San Diego Embryo Transfer
Optimizing for Success
We promote the use of Japanese/Minimal Stimulation IVF or Natural Cycle IVF to retrieve the highest quality eggs, and then we culture embryos to blastocyst to give our couples the highest chances for a healthy, successful pregnancy. Similarly, we take a unique approach to embryo transfers to optimize the procedures.
Our Embryo Transfer Methods
We will either perform a fresh embryo transfer or recommend freezing them and transferring during a later cycle depending on the circumstances. Our advanced, flash-freezing technique for embryo freezing (vitrification) allows us to safely keep your embryos on hold until the timing is perfect for a transfer. In addition to allowing us to have more successful transfers, frozen single embryo transfers are also safer and result in fewer miscarriages and twin complications. Safety and success are our top priorities, so we always make sure to monitor your uterine environment closely and facilitate transfers at the optimal time.
Most IVF centers use abdominal sonogram probes and ask patients to have a full bladder for the embryo transfer procedure to visualize uterine lining. The full bladder may be uncomforting and can cause cramping that can jeopardize the success of this procedure. We simplify this process and avoid complications by using transvaginal probes and specialized embryo transfer catheters.
We recommend single embryo transfers to minimize the risks associated with multiple implantations, and we also use minimal/no medications during our embryo transfers to make the procedures as natural and stress free as possible.
